Dinner for a fly
This is what happens when a fly lands on your food.
- Flies can’t eat solid food, so to soften it up, they vomit over the food.
- They then mash the vomit until it is all a liquid mush, incorporating a fair amount of bacteria.
- When it’s all nice and runny, the fly slurps it all up again, leaving some debris (excrement) on its food at the same time, before heading off again.
And now that the fly has finished its dinner, it’s your turn – bon appétit!
